About the Client
Durham College is a post-secondary college located in Oshawa, Ontario. It offers nearly 100 programs in the post-secondary, skilled trades, apprenticeship, and access areas. The college has over 2,100 courses, 61 certificate programs, and 12 diploma programs in a wide variety of career and personal interest subject areas. Durham College is one of North America's leading providers of training for comprehensive quality solutions including inspection, quality engineering, training, and consulting focused on quality assurance systems.

Challenge
The Durham College mission statement is to provide students knowledge to lead to successful careers and lives, to support colleagues with their continuing quest for excellence and innovation, to empower employers to successfully compete in changing markets and provide the region a great place to live, work and learn. With the number of programs and thousands of courses available to people in the Oshawa, Whitby, and Durham regions, there was a growing need to disburse information to the community in a professional, efficient, and timely manner that would make the college competitive with other education choices available.

Solution
Durham College selected ElementCMS as their content management system of choice for deployment of their new website because of the rich feature set, the educational-vertical expertise of ElementCMS integrators, and added value given to education institutions. ElementCMS provided the template functionality needed for compliance with the latest in accessibility standards, flexible publishing allowing for content repurposing and easy compatibility with the college's complex server infrastructure, integration with legacy dynamic applications in a variety of programming languages, and a "Made in Canada" solution that is dynamic and responsive to their changing needs.

Outcome
This project was completed under budget, and deployed to a growing number of contributors. There are over 130 content contributors across various campus departments, responsible for creating and publishing content to the Durham College sites. Most of these contributors have minimal technical expertise, and following basic training, were immediately productive.
